Keep dreaming. He'll never get enough support outside of New York, California, and a handful of other blue states to actually win. He might lose bigger than Hillary did. The Democrats need to think moderate a la Bill Clinton to get more votes in the middle - the middle of the political spectrum and the middle of the country - to have a chance.
No? What year are YOU stuck in? That's easy - 2016! If she hadn't lost, she would be president. Didn't you learn in school that presidential elections are (and this is only about the 863rd time you've had to be told this) decided by the Electoral College vote. Duh!

If it's not Bernie, it better be someone who has his support. People are still feeling the Bern and the DNC had better listen, unless they want to guarantee another 4 years of the not-so-great pumpkin.
It's not the 90's, and the last thing that most people who vote blue want is another Bill Clinton!
Sorry, but the Democratic primary is not the general election. Voters in middle America of the ilk who supported Trump, Obama before him, Bush before him, and Clinton before him - the vast middle-of-the-road spectrum of voters whose support is necessary to win any presidential election - will NEVER support a New York (born and raised) Jewish lefty proposing to raise taxes through the roof to fund free health insurance, college tuition, etc. and for the government to control things like the rental housing market. Guaranteed, you can take that to the bank. To believe that anyone like Sanders can win a general election is simply naive. US electoral history is littered with the remains of failed radical candidates. William Jennings Bryan in 1896, Henry Wallace in 1948, Eugene McCarthy in 1968, George McGovern in 1972, and Ralph Nader in 2000 (Bush beat Gore thanks to him) all tried and spectacularly failed. All you need do is read up on them to know that those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
I think it's hilarious that you, an alleged NY born and raised Jewish person, thinks he knows what middle American voters want more than a bona fide middle American voter.
We know that trickle-down economics is horseshlt. We'd like the chance to have those fancy things that you New Yorkers have (health care, college, retirement funds, etc). We LOVE Bernie because he's just dying to make the wealthy pay for it.
And we know that radical candidates have historically and repeatedly energized the extreme part of the lefty base and then fizzled in the general election. Next case?
One of the biggest jokes in reality TV is currently the president. That's how dumb and extreme the right is.
Bernie didn't fizzle, still hasn't fizzled. I believe that even Trump himself has said he would have lost if Bernie would have gotten the nomination. If not him, at least many of his people have said so. Do you have any idea how many votes he got in a general election in which he was NOT EVEN ON THE BALLOT? Fizzle, my a$$!

Maybe they should, because it's not happening with an extreme lefty candidate like Sanders or Elizabeth Warren. All you have to do to know that is look at Tuesday's results. The Republicans, for example, picked up seats in the Senate, and one of the few Democrats who held onto his seat, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, is a moderate who voted to confirm Justice Kavanaugh - perhaps the only Dem to do so. And like it or not (and I'm not saying I do), Trump is popular enough to win re-election - barring something unforeseen. Keep dreaming or smoking whatever you're smoking, but a radical candidate isn't going to earn enough votes in red states to get elected. It simply isn't going to happen. Perhaps the best bet might be a fresh face like Beto O'Rourke, who did very well running so close with Ted Cruz in Texas.
