Yup. I think somebody should sit him down and have a chat. That's kind of like some people getting democracy and the Constitutional Republic confused. :)
Mike asks: Why does everyone say the U.S. is a Democracy when it’s really a Republic. Frequently, politicians and many ordinary Americans refer to the United States as a democracy. Others find this aggravating because, unlike in a democracy where citizens vote directly on laws, in the United States, elected representatives do – and, therefore, the U.S. is a republic.
Happily, both are right! Here’s why - https://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2014/01/united-states-republic-democracy/
It was a direct attack on Trump and those that want to walk away from Globalism. Macron intended it that way, BTW the French was a bit more harsh than the translation
You mean De Gaulle the French Natioanlist? the French loved him. His walking away from NATO and the rest fantastic. OH oh no there was Mitterrand. They loved him as well
The French did have a problem with three in the 20's and 30's however
Franco Mussolini Hitler
Before that it was Franz Joseph of Austria - their support for Serbia along with the Russian's sort of brought on a dust up in Sarejevo
They had a an on again and off again problem with another one Ho Chi Minh Stalin's form of Nationalism bothered the shit out of them so did Kruchev's
I do love French questions. This mornings edition of LeMonde was quite interesting. Macron is fighting the pullback from Globalism because of French investments in China and other offshore manufacturing
Nationalism was a great cause of World War One because of countries being greedy and not negotiating. Nationalism shows you are proud of your country and want it to be the best. A lot of causes all linked back to countries all wanted to be better than each other. Nationalist groups in Austria-Hungary and Serbia wanted independence. France wanted Alsace Lorraine back from Germany who was lost in 1871 Franco-Prussian war. The use of Nationalism gave nations false hope and aggressive to win the war. - Dhiresh Nathwani
No, this is not about how some past leader may have mislabeled him/herself. Nationalist is not a betrayal of patriotism. It is a betrayal of globalism.
True that, it is what all the Billionaires are afraid of the Betrayal of Globalism. Man they would lose control and bea ccountable if that happened. Macron would have some pretty pissed off suppoeters if a betrayal of Globalism happened. Did you see his speach from Thursday?
Adolf Hitler (Germany) Plaek Pibulsonggram (Thailand) Chiang Kai-shek (China) Sun Yat-sen (China) Benito Mussolini (Italy) Francisco Franco (Spain) Andrej Hlinka (Slovakia) Gerardo Machado (Cuba) Daniel Malan (South Africa) Maximiliano Hernández Martínez (El Salvador) Ioannis Metaxas (Greece) Ion Antonescu (Romania) Gamal Abdel Nasser (Egypt) Muammar Gaddafi (Libya) Slobodan Milošević (Serbia) Ante Pavelić (Croatia) Juan Velasco Alvarado (Peru) Augusto Pinochet (Chile) Reza Shah (Iran) António de Oliveira Salazar (Portugal) Jozef Tiso (Slovakia) Tojo Hideki (Japan) Rafael Trujillo (Dominican Republic) Getúlio Vargas (Brazil) Fidel Castro (Cuba)
Not to mention significant nationalists in American history:
Thomas Paine Alexander Hamilton George Washington James Madison
Without the above four, we might never have achieved independency, and we certainly would not have the US Constitution, which brought about a strong national government. Some others:
Andrew Jackson, a big-time populist. Abraham Lincoln, who used civic nationalism as a force for national unity. Theodore Roosevelt Franklin Delano Roosevelt Harry Truman Dwight Eisenhower John F. Kennedy Lyndon Johnson Ronald Reagan George W. Bush

Sorry, but the Roosevelts, Truman, Eisenhower, JFK, LBJ, Reagan, and Bush were all in the 20th century and were not dictators. But go ahead, be delusional. You can spin anything to let yourself believe whatever you like.
The delusion is in your ballpark, no spin - I posted a list, as stated, - 20th-century nationalist regimes dictators.
There you go with the name calling again. Don't bother to answer here - I won't bother to read any other post from you. You are too hubristic for this OLD TIMER. (Extreme arrogant behavior resulting from pride or passion. Someone who worked very hard to achieve a skill and thinks he is better than everyone else is an example of a person who is hubristic. (Name calling return)
Beware of Hubris Syndrome! A Leadership (and others) Personality Disorder.
The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility, but the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to war.
Again, probitive evidence that the majority of Trump supporters are under-educated.
I suppose it was blind arrogance that led us into the Revolution, the Civil War, WWI, and WWII. And really, why are you still nitpicking about who voted for Trump and who didn't? It doesn't change the fact of his presidency and no longer matters. Tough noogies. Vote for somebody else in 2020.
