I would say a little of both.  They compliment each other.
The only other possible thought was they never knew.  That would be a serious blow to the educational system.

It used to drive me nuts!  However, now that i have a "temperamental" shift-key, i'm a bit more forgiving.
It seems someone (I won't mention any names here) dumped a plate of spaghetti and a glass of orange juice on the keyboard (numerous times) ... and it attracted tons of cat hair.

It STILL drives me NUTS.  I never knew I had so many pet peeves until someone asked that question, (about pet peeves) a long time ago and I claimed I didn't have any that I could think of.  Boy, was I wrong.

Dumping a plate of spaghetti and a glass of orange juice on a keyboard would create a definite mess.  Terrible mix for the tastebuds, too.

Oh come now.  Coughing up spaghetti, orange juice and a big hair ball would be a wonderful experience for your taste buds.  It's always better the second time around.  You added a little stomach juice to spice up the mixture.
It is a delicacy over seas, I hear.
The most expensive thing on the Friskees menu.

I think you are misunderstanding the word.

Insecure people are the ones who think it their duty to correct and criticize spelling and grammar.

Why else would they?  It gives them a boner.
