Doesn't this "drive you bonkers?!!" I know it is going to jump up again here soon. It is so depressing that I can see them out there drilling, they drive it all over the place and then bring it back here and sell it to us. Granted, many of us have a love affair with our cars and drive large distances to work. I can't complain too much. I am living here by choice. It's one of the prices to pay. ;) ;)

Hugs and loves! Me too! :) :) Luckily over there, they don't abuse the automobile as much as we do in Califonia. Then again, it is much smaller. Better to bike and walk than live 47 miles away from where you work. :) :)
It's a compound tax in the UK. Road fuels (petrol and diesel) were "always" loaded with a Customs Duty but when the EU forced us to adopt its Value Added Tax on goods and services, the Government put it on the fuel's (Cost + Duty) sum.
Will be interesting to see what they do with battery-car electricity, when the tax revenues from liquid fuels fall drastically with the intended ending of i.c-engined cars. My guess is that it will be taxed as heavily as petrol and diesel; which might be why the UK Government wants all homes to be fitted with so-called "smart" meters anyway, but a separate meter for a wired-in car-charger.
(A "smart" meter is nothing of the sort of course. It is just an electricity or gas meter with a radio-transmitter sending hourly readings to the supplier's bills department, and with a watt-meter allowing you to see instant consumption at a glance. )
Thanks for your informational. I don't travel to any of those places lol. All I know is that when I go to Ohio to visit sister their gas is about 50 cts to 75 cts cheaper than here. In Pennsylvania, the 8-cent gas tax increase that kicked in Jan. 1 pushes the state's wholesale per-gallon tax to 58 cents per gallon. The national average is 30.5 cents per gallon, according to the American Petroleum Institute. It was $3.97 at the Arco/711. That was for premium. Regular unleaded was $3.35. The last time Don filled up in Santa Monica it was $3.45. What makes it so frustrating for me is I can see them pumping oil right off the coast and yet we have some of the most expensive gas. I can't figure that logically in my head.
The only explanation I can come up with is we have "seasonal gas." It is true. In the summer our gas wears the newest, in-style bikinis and in the fall, it wears a very stylish scarf. Who Knew?? ;) :)

In England it $ eight Dollars per gall and still rising...anyone that drives any vechicles are used as cash cows that are milked endlessly by our Governent .....Strange thing is ....the multi millionaire Politicans get their vehicles ,maintainabce services free as well... :(
