    Usually it's because someone who has a particular bias toward me spoke to them before they had a chance to meet me in person and form their own opinion.  That happened a lot a work.  Thank heaven I don't have to do that anymore.

    I cannot control what other people do, much less what they think.  I don't spend time worrying about it unless my paycheck is involved.

    Undoubtedly.  Don't all of us do that?   To some extent?  We presume from whatever we know even if it is only a little.
