Some people are upset because Obama is bringing $27 million to Louisiana flood victims? What is Trump bringing?

People criticized Obama for not showing up the week of the floods. He didn't show up because the governor told him to wait. He had his hands full with his resources, helping victims. But when Obama showed up a few days later, he told them he was giving them $27 million.

Trump showed up the week before, in spite of being told not to come. Especially for a photo shoot. So what did he bring to help the victims?

  • Nothing. Nothing at all, but some hilarious video of him handing out bottled water for 45 seconds to an all white group of people who are snorting the orange cheeto dust and singing his praise while they wait for the insurance companies to assess the damage to thier $3-400k homes.  Let's see Trump hand out water to Flint residents.

Wonder if he even thought of building a wall to keep the water out.

What a goofy question. Being generous with other people's money is not heroic.

    Hello there Marguerite...

What about the 27 million is upsetting people, do they think it is not enough, too much, or something else?

I have heard the complaints of the President that suggest he was more concerned about his vacation and golf game than he was for the victims of this flood, but haven't heard any complaints concerning the amount pledged. What are the complaints you are talking about?

As to Trumps contribution. Mr. Trump holds no office, as of yet, that would allow him to allocate any public funds. To suggest that because the President has the authority to pledge funds where Mr. Trump does not have such authority somehow translates to Mr. trump being less caring is a bit unfair. He, Mr. Obama did not give a damn thing to the people of Louisiana. It is not as though he pulled this money out of His wallet.  He gave funds that came out of everyone else's wallet, which is what should be done, in fact i'll even say he should have allocated much, much more, 27 mil. is nothing, I work on houses that cost that much.

What Mr. Trump did give was the optics of empathy and compassion, which actually is meaningful to people going through distress such as this. The image of Mr.Trump meeting with the victims, showing concern, in juxtaposition to the image of the President on the back 9 is quite the contrast.

Where Mr. Trump showed he would drop everything in a show of solidarity, the President it seemed, couldn't be bothered to  drop his sand wedge.

When you consider the rage in which the then Senator Obama feigned at President Bush for leaving his vacation to do "only a fly over" of the area after Katrina hit, it makes this current image of President Obama a bit insensitive and hypocritical.

In the end this is all just another move in the political game. It is another situation where the same event is used as evidence for opposing arguments, arguments I might add, that are in opposition to arguments made by the same people not so long ago. Those who complained that President Bush showed indifference by not immediately visiting the area are now Praising President Obama for....wait for it.......not immediately visiting the area...

Having said that, let me say this, I don't believe for a second in the sincerity of all the outrage and concern over this. Most of it are just cheers and jeers for the home team...

Event 1 as seen by group A...SEE!!!! those damn republicans...

Event 1 as seen by group B...SEE!!!! those damn democrats..

As far as I know nobody got upset about Obama bringing $27 million to Louisiana.  They got upset because he was the insensitive pinhead who thought it'd be a good idea to play remain on vacation playing golf while Louisiana was drowning.

Of, and if you think Obummer is getting special treatment in this regard, think again. Shrub II got hammered for his flyover during Katrina.

  • Me? I sat on my a$$ laughing @ the Trump & Pence comedy show.  I paid my taxes that get used to fund the emergency management sytem which provides federal assistance to help these people.

I'de like to know how much in taxes Trump & company paid for taxes..

The same politicians who represent these people voted against assitance for Hurricane Sandy victoms. If you're going to ask for federal assistance you shouldn't deny it for anyone else and you sure AF shouldn't be whining about federal agencies & paying taxes.

  • You do know that Obama has used less vacation time than any president in modern history, right?

    WOW!

Obama is "giving" $27-million of his own money? That's amazing! Must be that Clinton thing, entering the Presidency with just a few million in spare change in his pocket and leaving that lofty perch firmly in the middle of the 1%.
