Hey there, CallMeIshmael -- speaking of believing and going completely off-topic, believe it or not, I have not forgotten about your request for me to recommend some more pieces by Robert Muczynski. I've listened to some -- his solo piano stuff as of now. And I'm not ready to recommend, I guess, ha! Of his piano stuff that I have played (those are the ones I have gone to first), I've listened to them from youtube. Mainly Muczynski himself is the pianist -- and forgive me, Robert!! - - but I sometimes I think he plays his own compositions so fast that they lose some of their rhythmic excitement -- it all becomes a blur to my ears sometimes. But, no doubt -- Muczynski is a phenomenal pianist! Interestingly, Muczynski and I, in personal correspondence, have discussed the tempos ("tempi"?) of his music. :)
In general, you might look to Muczynski's flute compositions and saxophone compositions -- some musicians whom I highly respect have recorded some of those compositions. I've not listened closely to them but Muczynski has a knack for featuring solo instruments in their best lights (to my way of thinking, at least).
