  • I like the taste of it .. but they're really pumped full of all sorts of "stuff" we probably shouldn't be eating anyway.

Carrot cake is my Achilles Heel, if it is the good stuff.  The standard crap served is yucky poo

  • There's a country carrot cake recipe that is quite amazing.  It consists of golden raisins, coconut and I think pecans in the standard cream cheese icing.   I don't care for raisins generally, but this particular recipe is SO good.

  • Bologna -   as a kid, I used to fry it up and melt cheese on it.  I don't know if they even still make bologna, but the thought of it makes me gag.

  • I used to love fried bologna sandwiches .. but can't stomach it anymore.  Too greasy and salty.  They do still make bologna .. in beef and turkey too.  Yech.

  • Ew, I didn't know that. I haven't seen bologna in stores in ages, since I never buy it.    To add to the saltiness back then, I also used to pile potato chips on top.   Gross.

Spam...we had it a lot when I was a youngster. Last year I bought a can. It was so salty, I spit out the first bite and threw the rest away.

Vegemite on toast is ambrosial, and absolutely the best hangover cure on the planet, period.

The mistake most Americans make is to slather it on as thick as the bread, as if it was peanut butter or Nutella. It's just not supposed to be eaten that way, the trick is to spread it thinly with plenty of butter. This post was edited by Slartibartfast at January 19, 2019 9:34 PM MST
