The nearest "city" park is about 200 yards due east of my house (think 80 acres of woods, trails and wildlife - not green grass). The nearest State Park is roughly 2 miles to the east/southeast of my house. (another state park is just 12 miles to the north/northeast)
There are many words like them still used in England....Thicket ,Grove ( not often used) coppice where they cut trees for fencing....stand of timber...clump...Brake which I think was short for Bracken or the charming word Spinney

Ele, the coolest park I've ever seen is Sidecut Park. It is a series of canal locks from the old Ohio Canal system built in the mid 18oos. It is in the Maumee, Ohio area.
