George Lynch was in contention with Randy Rhoads to play with Ozzy. He ended up with Dokken instead, seen them in concert with Judas Priest, mid 80s. \\m//
One more: Candlemass ft. Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath for those hiding under a rock all these years), Astrolus, has a great solo that begins somewhere around 2:51:
(I love "Comfortably Numb" -- I know I've said it before, but it's my favorite song on that album. The lyrics kill me -- especially the end part about catching a fleeting glimpse, turning to look but it was gone, I cannot put my finger on it now, the child is grown the dream is gone. And the part about "a distant ship's smoke on the horizon." That image is so haunting to me within the context of the song lyrics.)
This probably doesn't count as a guitar solo but I love the opening 28 seconds of this song. Three separate-to-me parts within those 28 seconds.
I know I already posted an answer two days ago but driving home from work tonight, "Comfortably Numb" came on the radio and while listening, by the end, during the guitar solo, I started tearing up, sitting in my driveway after pulling in. It's such a beautiful song that works on many levels for me. And the instrumental background orchestration is so great for me - - sounds like almost a full orchestra behind the group.
I never tire of hearing that song ("Stairway to Heaven").
I've not paid attention to Oasis songs. Hearing this lead singer, I now think there are some other songs out there that I like but didn't know they were by Oasis. I like his style of singing and his voice. And I like their "sound/ style." I recognize this guy's singing voice. I don't have any specific song titles in my mind; I just know this voice.
