Do you ever find yourself racing towards the microwave to beat the buzzer and turn it off before it reaches zero?

My home microwave is not that loud or irritating.  The one at work can lift you out of your shoes.

  • At home I have a one touch so starting it isn't so bad....but I do usually find myself stopping it before the six loud beeps that tell me it's done.  But like you the one we have here at work is a bit older and it screams every time you press a button.

My home one only beeps four times.  The one in the office, much newer, beeps five times and is much louder.

  • Depending on what's inside it might be just as good cold anyway, lol.

Yes because it beeps like six times and is aggravating.  The one in the kitchen will keep beeping until you open the door.  I have wanted to rip the door off on occasion when I was upstairs.

  • Mine does that as well.  A "courteous" beep that constantly reminds you every 20 seconds that you still have food sitting in there, lol.

  • I guess I'm a little edgier.  I usually don't stop it until I feel like it's about to hit zero. There's a good half of a second there after it reaches 1 that I hold my breath.

It never occurred to me that there might be such powerful emotional wrangling about a beeper. I can understand being uptight about a truck backing up, but not a microwave.
