How would you, personally, define "true love?" (Metaphors welcome.)

Well, the only perfect love is between the SOURCE and the individual.

But love on the human level can be something as profound as a mother's love for her child.

A wife to her husband.  The idea of devotion is important.  To give has to be in the equation.  To be willing to give and follow your path in the expression of how you feel is the chief ingredient we all need to express.

Can you express an ingredient?  Oh you know what I mean.

The way the Earth circles the Sun.
For all the wobbles and deviations in her orbit,
she remains in a perfect balance
    between gravity and centrifugal force.
For too close and they would clash
and the Earth melt into oblivion.
Too far and Earth would forget her tether
    and tumble into outer space.

The Sun radiates from his essence,
knowing nought but the seemingly endless
gifts of warmth, energy and light,
gifts that stir Earth's waters, her airs,
    her photosynthesis,
    that spark her life,
    her multitudinous creativity.

    And one day
    when the Sun fades
    so will the Earth,
for even marriages made in heaven
    must one day die.

True love, ah the miles literature which have been written.  Some of quite good, some........

Now for me the Doc after a Half Marathon asked to come over and meet the Resident Labradors. She met the pups, spent the night, claimed all my soft cashmere sweaters, and I am still living with her 4 years later.  It is either true love or I am just to old and lazy to go out and find another woman.

  • You already know my real answer,  so I’ll give my typical bullshizzat answer here. True love is when someone is willing to give up the last piece of pizza for someone, and sleep in the wet spot. ( can I say that here? Lol)

Yes you may say "sleep in the wet spot"  I have done that more than a few nights.

Now here is one for you, I I want children do you want to be a father again........  Before the Attorneys were involved, we were trying and got lucky.  Doc and I are dealing with a great age difference, people asking who is the father of our twins, etc.  Now deal with an overprotective women taking care of her partner.

I do not know if this is True Love, however it is a good life we are having

True love is staying with them "until death do you part" without killing them yourself.

Nobody actually knows what love is, but everybody is happy to make up something when asked.

  • "All is forgiven; come back to me, darling."
When these words are stuck in my throat and cannot come out. That's true love to me.

A game of cards. To open, you need two hearts and a diamond. To close, you want a club and a spade.
