Does the dirt on my hands count? I could just lick my fingers. I remember one time I picked up some dirt from the garden to taste it then spit out most of it. Kind of a yucky taste. Might not hurt about once a year to swallow a tiny bit of 'clean' dirt, won't kill ya I don't think and make one's immune system stronger.

I used to drink water from mud puddles when I was a kid. The lady who watched me didn't allow me in her house nor would she let me have water. I'm not dead and pretty strong for my age so, yes, I'd eat dirt.

No - I figure it could do more harm then good lots of parasites in dirt. Cheers!

Given what’s in the ground nowadays, I might well be trading one health crisis for another. I’ll stick with my doctor‘s advice.

I know a woman who was pregnant and carved dirt. She said it was the strangest thing. She would be outside and look at the ground just start salivating.  She finally took a bite. It was nasty and she did not crave it anymore. She asked she doctor about it and he said there was probably a mineral in the dirt she was missing.

It is even funnier cause she is one of those really girly girls.

I saw a documentary once where a group of monkeys were eating mud near a river bank. Speculation is they needed the minerals.

Yes, if it was the stuff from Ireland. I'd prefer Guinness though.

  • this question reminded me of the time my cousin was dating this guy, and one day he was at our house with his little brother (I think the kid was three or four) and i remember he picked up a handful dirt and stuffed it in his mouth and chewed it, then started crying
