I've always loved oatmeal cookies, especially the ones with raisins in them.  There are certain cereals and candy bars I no longer eat since adulthood.

I was really addicted to the buttery kind with coconut flakes in them.  Now I would not even want it.  I'm saddened.  I want me to want it.

    When does that start?

Yes, I like them. I don't like those 'no bake cookies' or anything with dried coconut, but I never have.

I used to enjoy eating animals, but choose not to now. I don't generally miss it, but every once in a while a restaurant commercial or cooking show triggers me to remember it fondly.

I was once a meat-eater.  The smells make me sick now.

    LOL

  • Oatmeal raisin cookies are the reason I have trust issues. Bite into one of those thinking it’s chocolate chip cookie when a kid. Scarred for life.

I am so sorry.  Mostly raisins got no reason to even be in anything.  Once in a while they are done right.

I want a chocolatey mouthful.  OH NO!!!!!  a freaking rasin.  That had to echo and resound throughout your youth until even this day.

  • Lol, that didn’t really happen, I just think it’s funny. I don’t mind oatmeal raisin cookies but for the most part I dont care for sweets anymore ( including cookies) So to answer your question, anything I liked that was sweet when a kid I don’t really like any more. Except pie.

I am in the same boat.  I like cheesecake still but very sporadically.  VERY.   I also have a problem with white flour and cookies have both.

I was a bread freak and now, not so much.

My mom always used to make oatmeal cookies.  I never really liked them though (turned out I was allergic to oats).  I miss those days.

As for me, I'm no longer fond of sweet stuff (candy, soda).

I can get into a sugar thing if I dare drink soda.  I want another one later on.  So, I think sugar is like crack.  Once you eat it, it often gets in your system and makes you crave sugar even more.

It's a fact that sugar is addictive.  Soda is a great example of sugar addiction.

Did You know that salt makes things taste sweeter?  The fast food industry (as well as other industries) know this and "spike" their food to make people want more of it.   Ever wonder why they say "you can't eat just 1 Pringle" (chip)?  It's the combination of sugar and salt.  They use in the right proportions to create an almost instant addiction.

  • I used to like canned pasta ... bologna ... hot dogs .... but now I couldn't eat them if I had to!!  Yech!  I was never a big fan of oatmeal cookies ... peanut butter cookies are and were my thang.  :)

I have not wanted any cookie in a long time.  I eat them once in a while but I don't really like them any longer.  Sad. I love the idea.

  • Sounds like you're a very healthy eater.  That's great!

I wish.  Not at all.  I get to a point where I have it under control and then I get so busy I grab just anything.  So, don't pin the roses on me yet.

But, the changing over of foods and aging did something to me and my taste buds and desires.  I want to like certain comfort foods and when I go to eat them, I just feel flat.

I guess I just need to use food as medicine and eat what is good for my energy level and carry on.  I certainly love being healthy and energetic but it is not always possible for my disorganized lifestyle to get really good food.  I just went to the Jack In The Box because I was too lazy and tired to go to the grocery store.

The food there is the WORST.  I had fish and coffee.  Not too bad, but definitely not health food.

    GUILTY AS CHARGED.

Can I piggyback on your answer?  Just remove the peanut butter cookie thing.  I never liked them.

Candy Bars, I don't know how I ate so many so often, the sugar content is so darn high.

Love oatmeal cookies.  Which I never had growing up.  Not that I ever make them now but I do like them.

I ate a good amount of junk food in my childhood and youth which I have managed to put behind me.

Do drinls count? Malibu. Liked it as a just-barely-legal teenager (drinking age is 18 in Australia), can't stand the sickly stuff now. Single malt scotch, beer and certain wines I can drink.
