Have you heard that Trump wants to award the Medal of Freedom to Tiger Woods?

According to Wikipedia, the medal is given for "An especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors."

The Medal of Freedom hasn't been worth a bucket of spit since Ronnie gave one to a mafia don...

That is just amazing.  That he got one.  But he still did more for America than Tiger Woods.  (and both he and Woods DID NOT deserve the award)

Hmm, President Obama awarded the same such honors to a very long list of liberal "progressive" ACTORS and MUSICIANS while he was our country's President...who some ala Tiger Woods have had A LOT of their own celebrity drama played out in the tabloids due to them cheating on their spouses, their substance abuse etc....but BECAUSE President Obama awarded them with this MEDAL OF HONOR despite THEIR sordid past of cheating and drug addictions, that was ok back then for you all...but now are clutching your pearls in a faux outrage because President Trump may give the Medal of Honor to Tiger Woods who(gasp) cheated on his wife with many woman a decade ago, smh.

To me, that award needs to be renamed or something and the definition of the award not so broad. To me, regardless of the president who is awarding, none of those people you've mentioned in the thread, including Woods, here have anything to do with the freedom or the national security of the United States. The rest of the definition quoted in the question -- those are all so broad and unrelated to each other and/or to 'freedom' -- "cultural or other significant public or private endeavors."
    :)

Tiger Woods won an award.  He won at golf.  That is all he is good for.  Not any presidential medal ever.

Yeah, I'm with you there, Sharon Marie Therese Veronica. Definitely.

(This award seems, like I said up there, awfully broad in definition with what Spunky Senior helpfully-to-me quoted in her question. Even with that broad definition, Woods is still not in the same league to me as other winners, several of whom Redsox16 seems to complain of being awarded. I admit I've not kept up with this award, though. I'm glad you replied to my comment here, thanks!) This post was edited by WelbyQuentin at April 17, 2019 8:22 PM MDT

My personal OPINION is that no matter who our President is... that our country's COURT JESTERS of freakin' actors, musicians and athletes whoe are paid MILLIONS of dollars to entertain us..... should never even be considered for the Medal of Freedom/Honor....in my OPINION only our military(our country's REAL heroes) should only be those considered for such an award/'trophy".....I mean come on, why does a celebrity like Bruce Springsteen get such a prestigious award ..... yet my dad who put HIS LIFE on the line in the 50's and 60's defending our country's FREEDOMS...as an elderly veteran only received a measly $350 check every month from our GOVERNMENT for his military service to our country, whereas the EBT/deadbeat/layabout welfare recipients in my blue state got 3 times more money per month than my elderly Marine veteran dad did, smh.

If he only receives $350 from the VA then he needs to sign up for SSI and all those other programs: food stamps, and other welfare. He should qualify.

Apparently, you don't know the difference between a Medal of Freedom and a Medal of Honor.  The Medal of Honor is the United States of America's highest and most prestigious personal military decoration that may be awarded to recognize U.S. military service members who have distinguished themselves by acts of valor.

Nope wrong again...the Medal of Freedom is bestowed to those in our military who served our country's military proudly, whereas the Medal of Honor is just a freakin' joke of an award/trophy bestowed to the freakin' COURT JESTERS/celebrities in our country.

Please explain in DETAIL to us deplorables as to WHY and HOW the now wealthy SOCIALIST minded Springsteen and Mellencamp made their MILLIONS of dollars.....oh right, they made their MILLIONS OF DOLLARS by PRETENDING as song writers to SUPPOSEDLY be for the working middle class ...when in FACT both of them, come to find out, are far left NUTS who PRETENDED to be like guys like my husband.

If the Medal of Freedom was awarded to those who served in the military, Woods would not be eligible.  You have it backwards.

I don't have to explain ANYTHING.   This post was edited by my2cents at April 19, 2019 7:38 AM MDT

Right, like acts of "valor" of that of John Kerry(D) who testified (LIED) before congress during the Vietnam War stating that his military brothers where raping, cutting off the ears, heads, genitals and limbs ala Genghis Khan, where American soldiers would also shoot animals for "fun"..... thus his testimony having liberal Americans SPIT on out country's veterans when they came home(SURVIVED the democrats Vietnam War)... as well as Richard Blumenthal(D) who flat out LIED(stolen valor) about his military service during the Vietnam War. Woods was awarded the Medal of Freedom, not the Medal of Honor.  The Medal of Honor can only be awarded to a person who served in the military, so Woods would not have been eligible for that award.

LOL in his defense, since when does TRUMP care if the Medal of Honor was awarded to a non-service person.  He does NOT care.  NOPE.  Try and stop him.  (I mean that is what HE thinks)

Under other circumstances, I would agree with you, but even Trump is not awarding him the Medal of Honor, but the Medal of Freedom.

When you put it that way?  Trump should have plenty of medals.  I mean if he has a dozen, he still has to find 11 more people who support him.  That may take his whole term.

I guess Manafort will get one for being LOYAL next. This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at April 17, 2019 8:23 PM MDT

Once again the anti-Trumpers have NO CLUE whatsoever as to how many in our great country actually support President Trump...but unfortunately have to keep their support of President Trump to themselves,  for fear of being verbally and physically attacked by their "tolerant of all" liberal college mates, as well as having to remain SILENT with their "progressive" co-workers at their part time jobs.....because they don't want to lose their athletic scholarships for standing up for their conservative political beliefs....so they unfortunately remain silent.

My son and his athlete friends of all sports at his college are ALL Trump supporters...however they sadly have to keep their support of President Trump among themselves because they don't want to lose their athletic scholarships or TRIGGER the "tolerant of all" liberals at their university.
