What is the point of taking an oath? When you break it nothing happens to you. Just so much bullsh**! Why is D.C. so full of it?

The Dondonjohn took an oath which he broke immediately. He has not once upheld the Constitution.
The fake phony pretend AG billycarrROYCOHN took an oath which he did not keep as well.

Why go through such a dog&pony show of meaningless rhetoric when we know it matters not at all. It is toothless and gums its way day by day. Is that all there is? Have we come to this low estate? Where a reprobate like Dondonjohn calls all the shots and has no opposition?

I've often wondered why nobody is called on the hypocrisy of taking an oath on a Book which EXPLICITLY FORBIDS the practice of taking oaths. Matt 5:34-37.

"Just say a simple, ‘Yes, I will,’ or ‘No, I won’t.’ Anything beyond this is from the evil one."

It's not that oaths are bad.  God Himself made oaths (eg. Heb. 6:13).  The people to whom Jesus was talking would make lofty sounding oaths, but with no intention of ever keeping them.  They'd say, "I swear by the temple in Jerusalem...", or I swear by heaven ...", as if by involving such a "holy" thing would grant more validity to their oath.  In actuality, however, the vower had no intention of ever keeping the vow; he was only lying in order to get what he wanted.  Jesus was pointing out their hypocrisy.

We do the same thing toady.  We say, "I swear to God ..." or "I swear on my mother's grave...".  People will even try to get around the seriousness of vows by swearing on a dictionary instead of a bible (as if either makes a vow any more or less binding).

God takes vows (promises) seriously - wedding vows, business vows, personal vows, or whatever!   According to Jesus, if we don't intend to keep a vow we should never make it.

Why do people even need vows?  If people would always tell the truth there would be no need for vows.

It used to be that a man's word was his vow.  Lying has become so commonplace that now we have to have 20,000 pages of legalese to make the "vow" binding... and even them people still break them.  Punishment for breaking a vow?  IF one's unfortunate enough to get caught, they usually only gets a slap on the wrist (especially if they're wealthy or influential).
