    believing they're only for children

On a very fun note (pun intended), this skit from comedian Tim Hawkins makes me laugh every time I listen! Ha! And this video made by a youtuber (Burnin8r55555) made to it is fun, too! Hawkins nails the various musicians' voices and songs!

They are sweet and innocent.  In fact, most children's books and songs written today are political indoctrination.

Good point, but I don't think that's merely a modern phenomenon.  Just look at some age-old nursery rhymes and "lullabies", such as "London Bridge is falling down" and "Ring Around the Rosies".

That they may not understand when they actually do. I would sing songs to my baby before he was born and continued to do so when he was born. Those very songs, he remembers and cherishes to this day.
