If there is more than just a couple of bites left, I take it home.  One of the places I have dinner has the best chicken quesadillas, but it's so big that I wind up taking half of it home.  I paid for it, no reason not to take it with me.

No.  I have many times but have never once eaten them.  So now I don't bother.  I did when the kids were growing up because they would eat them.  We don't eat out very often but what I don't eat, they can have.

  • I wouldn’t take home something I wouldn’t eat next day. I don’t ever cook though and I had more than half left, so I was taking it with me.

Having been poor most of my life, food never goes to waste.  It may go to waist but NOT to waste.

  • Absolutely. I hate to see food go to waste. Being that I rarely cook, I probably would have taken everyone else's leftovers too.

Except the one who ordered the chicken breast. Who goes out to a restaurant and orders chicken breast? Killers of joy, that's who.

It depends on what it is and whether I am going straight home. I've heard that this is an American thing which is why other countries don't understand our portion size. Canada sometimes follows US customs and sometimes it doesn't, so I'm not sure if you are unusual for Canada or not.

  • I‘m probably unusual lol. I just find portions at restaurants are so huge. If I’m paying over 30 for a plate and not able to eat half of it, it’s mine, I’m taking it home.

  • if i bring extras home its because i intend to eat it within a few hours. i usually just try to order something I know I'll finish.

  • some restaurants portions are so huge though, no normal person could eat a whole plate.

  • We had appetizers though, and the meal came with a salad to start. By the time I got my meal was already full. I had to pretend to eat like a grownup though,  cos I was with family.

If I chose it at a restaurant, it’s food I like, I paid for it, it’s my food.

Leftovers? As in, food left over? A concept lost on me.

But I really do hate seeing food go to waste.

Bread bowl, Jaimie. First you eat the chili, then you eat the bowl. There's nothing more satisfying than looking down after lunch and seeing nothing but a table.

Hehe it's a Seinfeld quote; happened to catch "The Calzone" yesterday.

My dream is actually an edible table.

  • Gawd I’ve  seen every episode of that show and I can’t recall it. Maybe start  with making an edible dinner tray... work up to a table ;)
