This was the era I was raised in.  I had to put up with this until the Beatles.  Then we all did drugs and grew our hair and never listened to THE MAN again.

  • The songs would be kind of funny, if they didn’t come across as so pathetic.

It was the sequel to IT'S MY PARTY AND I'LL CRY IF I WANT TO.

    [Chorus]
It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to, cry if I want to
You would cry too if it happened to you

    [Verse 1]
Nobody knows where my Johnny has gone
But Judy left the same time

Why was he holding her hand
When he's supposed to be mine?

    [Chorus]
It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to, cry if I want to
You would cry too if it happened to you

    [Verse 2]
Play all my records, keep dancing all night
But leave me alone for awhile
    'Til Johnny's dancing with me
I've got no reason to smile

    [Chorus]
It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to, cry if I want to
You would cry too if it happened to you

I don't know the exact history but I think it was before the Beatles.    The Beatles were around then and I hated this music and the minute they came out (I was 15 and  it was 1965) I know I was through with what passed for rock-n-roll here.

This song came out way before then, I THINK.  I cannot believe she was still famous after that.  Maybe. Not sure. This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at May 12, 2019 9:24 AM MDT

OK I looked it up.  Beatles were popular from 1963 and especially winter 1964.  Stand By Your Man was a #1 country hit late 1968 and a #19 popular hit shortly thereafter.  Plus it was #1 in the UK later 70s and at some time in The Netherlands.

Hopefully a man would respond to that level of commitment---if he doesn't, he's a fool.

This doesn't fall in the same category of freckriculous, but it's a song about beating up Ricky Martin if he doesn't stop driving the guy's wife crazy.

Admittedly, I think I'm laughing at it now even more than when I was twelve. The top comment on YouTube is, translated: "Ricky became gay as soon as he saw this."

He doesn't sing so well but he's fun to watch. (Yeah, I know -- what guy isn't fun for me to watch?)

Haha, he does pretty well to imitate--presumably consciously--a sort of singing that's unfortunately popular in our part of the world. Hi, Welbz!

Ridiculous but in the most fun way for me! I love this song -- my brother and sister and I would listen to this one a lot when we were little. we all still remember it and can probably sing it word for word still. I think my dad first had the record from when he himself was young.

Funny song! Great lyrics and the music itself I really like! And all under two minutes!
