    A friend told me recently that I am smarter than I think I am. That's the answer I like best, so I'm going with that.

    That happens to me too.  Then sometimes I see an old movie or read a book and realize an idea I thought was original  really came from somewhere else.

    Yea, I think so. I say this because I have a pretty realistic attitude to my intelligence. I know that there are people way smarter than me, I love those people, admire them and tend to hang on to their every word. Equally there are a lot of people way less smart than me.. So, I think I can place myself comfortably in the upper middle somewhere, which seems pretty realistic. If I thought I were smarter than everyone.. that might be unrealistic. I am content to just be smarter than MOST people :P
