If you were a judge and the private operator of a prison offered you 5% commission for every person you sent to jail -would 5% be enough?

At least one judge was found guilty of receiving kickbacks from a private operator for giving unreasonable long sentences to some persons.

    I'm curious.  What prison on EARTH is so in need of prisoners that they have to PAY ANYONE FOR MORE?

    The private operators apparently receive a per deim payment for every person in jail so the more the merrier. I guess they don't care how crowded are the prisons.

    Not. Remember he is not in USA. 
    The Department of Corrections assigns prisoners to facilities.  The only sketchy thing I've heard, which is true, is that some contracts for private prisons stipulate payment for 80%, 90%, or 100% occupancy whether they have vacant cells or not.  They get a lot of money per prisoner.  I don't know it that ever was litigated and changed or not.  I read it a couple of years ago.  But, anyone can see that it would tend to go ahead and get people off the streets who might otherwise qualify for probation.  This is a hard subject.
