Do you and your significant other have similar tastes in music, or varying tastes in music? ~

Yes. I like music and he does not. 

I have not had a SO in a long time.  So, I don't know how much importance I would place on that now, but when I was younger and dated, I needed the guy to like the same music as me.

We lived in that music culture.  I could not imagine going to a Country and Western bar ever and liking it.  I would have to be drunk as sin back then to even enter.

I doubt we could have survived as a compatible couple if we hadn't.

Most defintely.  Music is a very important part of living.
At least, to us, it is.
Sometimes it is rockin' the house and other times it is sweet as jazz.
It's all in the mood and mood setting it defintely is.
Varitey and willingness to listen to new and old is always a benefit.

Ye indeed we do, however our tastes are quite eclectic.  Jazz, Rock, Classical and a whole lot in between - we are not addicted to any one genre
