“Para inglés, oprima dos.”


  In countries where the official language, the primary language, or the only language is Spanish, is it common that on telephone prompts a caller is given the choice to select English instead of Spanish?

    English is the international language of the world...  It's right all phone companies use it for international calls....

    I don't know what they do in other countries, but if it has an official language and virtually all who live there speak that language, it would make sense to answer the phone that way and, perhaps, suggest that for those who speak a seconday language, let's say English, to press "2" for English.

    Although the U.S. does not have an official language, most people here speak English which is why it riles me if I'm asked to press "1" for English.
