  • Some parts of Mexico are a very popular tourist destination to Canadians. I have no desire to ever go there. I’m afraid I’ll get murdered and  cut up into pieces by the drug cartel guys . I watch movies, so I know what’s up.

  • Pssht, just agree to be a drug mule if you get captured and your life will likely be spared. Be sure to eat light on your vacation, though. You'll be more valuable to them if you keep an empty stomach.

I hear you.  In the 80's this story erupted  when a bunch of college kids crossed the border and one did not come back.  I read several books about this CULT that kidnapped and tortured people to appease their gods.  You would NOT believe it.  Stay home.

Atlantic City, NJ.  With the exception of the casinos, it's pretty much a slum.

Anplace they give elephant rides or eat dogs and cats or are mean to animals.  Images like that stay with me forever.  Such a helpless feeling it would be: in that situation and not be able to do anything about it.

  • Las Vegas, although I've been there a handful of times. It's like a giant playground for adults who don't get let out very often.

Yes, it's the city of sin, but I'd much rather do my sinning in better places than that.

Hi LeninaCrowne~ :) I haven't seen you around.  Not to say I'm here as often as I would like but welcome to answerMug!
It's a fun and cool place to be with great people.  Sometimes you even learn things but mostly we laugh and enjoy eachother's thoughts and company.
What I started to say was, "I like your style!"  I agree whole-heartedly. :) :)

  • Hi Merlin :)

Yes, you know me. You know me as just "Lenina." I added the "Crowne" when I rejoined after the full name of the character that inspired my user name.

"Sweet," said Lenina, and laying her hands on his shoulders, pressed herself against him. "Put your arms round me," she commanded.  "Hug me till you drug me, honey."  She too had poetry at her command, knew words that sang and were spells and beat drums.  "Kiss me," she closed her eyes, she let her voice sink to a sleepy murmer.  "Kiss me till I'm in a coma.  Hug me, honey, snuggly..."

This sounds like a great book and a wonderful character!  I'd love to read it sometime.
Yes.  I do happily remember you now.  Unfortuately, I'm not on as much as I used to be.  Life.  You know.  It has a habit of getting in the way; however,  I jump on here as soon as I have a free moment.
It's great to see you! :) :)  Sorry for the brain hiccup.  I didn't recogonize the name but should have the picture. Du!
Still, it's great to see you!! :) :)

  • Yes, that is the Lenina. Definitely put that book at the top of your reading list.

It's great to see you too, Merlin :)

I definitely agree with that.  I stopped in Vegas for a night, on the way to California a few years ago, and I was not impressed at all.

  • Yeah, it's a busy town of excess and over-stimulation. I suppose it might be fun if you're never been, but I'm an outdoorsy girl so it doesn't appeal to me so much.

I'm an outdoorsy girl too.  That's why I'm high, up in the sky, in Colorado, gasping for air, but it's all good.

  • I've only been to Colorado once but loved it. It's definitely a place I plan on visiting again.

    Central Tokyo, Japan
Nothing against Tokyo or Japan.  I'm just not into the big city deal.

Whale watching again. Long boring journey out to the area on a noisy diesel powered boat at high speed in rough water -bump bump bump and watching a few orcas frolicking for about an hour. Nothing like the scenery shown in their ads. Cost was reasonable anyway.

Really, ho-hum. Whales don’t care about tourist boat schedules.

I am averse to all of those really tourist-y places: overpriced exhibits beset by legions of wide-eyed travelers with their cameras, strollers and fanny packs. Not for me.
I do, however, make the occasional pilgrimage to rollercoaster nirvana.
    It’s a deeply spiritual thing.

I prefer to get off the beaten path to experience culture where it lives. This post was edited by Don Barzini at June 9, 2019 3:38 PM MDT

Maybe they’ll build a big coaster..... or two.
