Yes, they still need to tick. They need to make that other noise too. And if they refuse to then we have ways to make them tock.
Yes they do. Living alone, I find dead silence in the middle of the night quite eerie and scary. The soft tick of my good old clock is most soothing and lulls me back to sleep.
