I've had a few of those in my life.  When my daughter was in the hospital, hanging on by a thread, on the other side of the country I was completely spent by the second day.  I knew it was going to be a long hospital stay and was so so alone in Sacramento.   A woman walked into my daughter's room and said she had a place for me to stay for as long as I needed.  Very little cost, like $15/day.  It was the Kiwanis House next to the hospital and they provided shuttle service for me (and their other guest parents) to and from whenever we wanted to go and come back.  They provided room with private bath, food and a kitchen with an assigned frig and cabinet for each guest, and free washers and dryers.  That place saved my life.  I never slept there once; I would go around noon and shower and wash the clothes I had on while I had a meal.  The rest of the time I was the hospital.  She was in that hospital (UC-Davis) for about 20 days and then was transferred to another facility.  That hospital was first class everything and the care and personnel were no exceptions.  The hospital and Kiwanis House will always be remembered very warmly by me.
