(Sigh.) Yet AGAIN I find myself fake-engaged to another woman here on AnswerMug. Before this, it was a string of women on AnswerBag.

Not one fake (or real) marriage has ever resulted in these fake match-ups.  This one snuck up on me quite unexpectedly, and she announced to me that she and I are fake-engaged even before our first fake date. I know it’s destined to end like all the others, but I doubt it’s the last time this will happen.  Why does this fake pattern keep fake repeating itself?

    Maybe its a bit like the way married Europeans behave at soirees and dinner parties.
    There, it's expected that the polite thing for married couple to do is separate, mix with others, and engage in flirtation.
    It's considered fun - never serious, not leading to anything - just a way of stirring the old juices, stirring a bit of vitality into life.
    Like a touch of chilli or ginger added to an hors d'oevre.

    A public flirtation can be fun for other Muggers to read.

      It's a very recent engagement, Bookworm, barely 36 hours old.  (Give it another 36 and it'll have run its course.  I can't get that woman to make a decent sandwich no matter what I do.  Grrrrrr.)
