If this was heaven where everything is perfect, what would there be to discuss?

  • We would all just talk about happy things and use our nice words.

I'm of the mindset however that this may actually be an earthly portal to Hell.

Peace, love, and happiness to all!

Maybe heaven is all a huge great orgy.

    Praise the Lord!

The premise of existence in a perfect state is so unlikely and subjective as to defy credible testimony.

With our individually imperfect minds and limited experiences, can we really claim the capacity to form an understanding of perfection?

Maybe in a perfect world, we could discuss literally anything and each party would understand in the same way. This would be the death of deceit.

Not my first contemplation of this ideal.
The different faiths have dangled this fanciful theme as a carrot since time immemorial, but offer only provincial fantasies, and lack consensus of opinion of what perfect heaven looks like; except a vague notion of lemming-like eternal harmony, whatever the imagination conjures that to be.
    Hence my point.

Interesting though, isn’t it, how the all-too-grim alternative is spelled out in granular detail. This post was edited by Don Barzini at August 17, 2019 2:45 PM MDT

    Yep.
And the oddest thing about it is the way some sects think the notion of Hell in the afterlife is a necessary deterrent.
For me, it seems obvious that the consequences of harmful behaviours create their own hell directly in this life.
There is something askew in human thinking: we seem far too apt to get our wires crossed and unaware of it.

If you are wise, everything is perfect.

Or if you are in denial.  You choose.

You can choose to think perfection or you can choose to pick everything apart and spend your time in eternal disappointment of your own design.  We are GOD we are the designers.  Or at least Co-Designers WITH God.

I choose sex because sex is the perfect gift and is the root of reproduction . Money is the root of greed and lies are the root of religion and politics. This post was edited by Kittigate at August 17, 2019 5:31 AM MDT

There's a saying in the Ten Principal Upanishads (circa 600BC):

This is perfect. That is perfect.
    Take perfect from perfect,
    and the remainder is perfect.

Meant to be repeated endlessly and contemplated like a mantra.
Its amazing how many permutations of meaning can be found in it.

    5.  The perfection.

    4.  The joy of life and love.

    3.  Calmness and serenity.

    2.  You.

    1.  Me.

We could gossip about all the people who aren't there and speculate on why they didn't make the cut.

    Don Barzini nailed it.

    I love Randy's answer too.

If outer conditions meet our needs they can help us feel happy to a degree,
but ultimately it also depends on how we accept and deal with the hand we have.

With all the depression I lived through, including the recent one,
I've had to learn how to create happiness.
