Disclaimer: I’m not a beer drinker, I have tasted it before and found it putrid and foul. I have seen the same commercial. I believe the commercial refers to the idea that in the opinion of those who frequently drink beer, some (all?) beers are tasteless or taste weak or taste bad. I am not sure.
*Like MANY commercials, I think this particular one is extremely stupid, silly, mindless, etc.
I'm with Randy D. I think it's probably a reference to other beers being tasteless. I am also not a beer drinker.
Fun fact: OK Cupid (the dating site) asks members questions to help make better matches. One of those questions is whether you like the taste of beer. They discovered that people who say they like the taste of beer are statistically more likely to sleep with someone on the first date.
The article I linked had some other oddball predictors as well. For example, 83% of those who thought nuclear war could be exciting said they'd sleep with someone on the first date, while 82% of those who would personally launch nukes and 82% of those who could see themselves killing another person would.
I'm sure there are more correlations, but those were the big ones.
It was a very funny read. I did love the tolerating poor grammar and spelling as being an indicator someone is religious - too funny. Please keep posting this stuff
It means you're not drinking American beer, which is like making love in a canoe. F**king close to water. Dutch beer is drinkable. German beer is good. Irish stout is excellent. Czech and Australian beers are the nectar of the gods.
Well the commercial is for an American beer. I have tried several beers over the years. They all taste bad. I have not tried AU beer but I have had Czech beer and liquor. My brother in law is from Czech Republic. I liked the liquor but beer was no good. Tastes like the rest.
The only Sam Adams I've been able to find locally is the Boston Lager. Colour me unimpressed. It's not as bad as Bud, Coors or Miller, but it's still not good. Tastes like Viennese - Austrian beer is poor because you can't grow decent barley at that altitude, so the malt is lousy. Fair hops but no body. Perhaps their other drops are better, but I've never been able to sample any.
Excuse me, you are dissing Austrian Beer? Stiegl is excellent, Augustiener excellent, You are allowed to dis Ottokringer. Hmm we will agree to disagree. Now in an hour I can be in the Czech Republic in Cseky Budvar - the real Budweiser is brewed there not hte American Crap. The restaurant off the brewery is excelllent
Exactly - I specified Viennese. Stiegl's brewery is in Salzburg, much further north near the German border. Augustiner is actually based in Munich, so it doesn't count as Austrian. Ottokringer is Vienna's biggest brewery and it's product is rubbish.

Do realize that all of the Czech Beers were Austrian before the breakup of the Empire in 1919. I will agree Ottokringer is a lesser beer, however their Radler is pretty decent in hot weather
Wenceslaus II (aka Good King Wenceslaus) was king of Bohemia long before the Holy Roman Empire annexed the lands from the Balkans to Transylvania. It was Wenceslaus who travelled to Rome to convince the Pope to repeal the Church's law a against the secular brewing of beer - so when he got home, he was a national hero and they made a saint of him when he died. He was also king of Poland and, at the end of his reign, of Hungary as well. The tail wagging the dog?
