    Cricket I should have known, I would have taken you for a Footballer. 

    I have for years tried to understand Cricket, just plain eludes me.  Why my friend spent £250 on a custom made Bat is again elusive. Any game which takes 3 days to determine a winner is a bit goofy as well

    Five - and sometimes even then the match is drawn. Cricket is chess to baseball's checkers. Like Vegemite, you have to grow up with it or you'll never get it.

    We play an odd brand of football here - ever seen Australian Rules? It's either that or one of the rugby codes. European football, or soccer, is mostly played by immigrants.

    They're not very different from the pads worn by a hockey goalie. Same reason - cricket balls are heavier than pucks and travel at similar speeds.

    Hockey...Now that language I can understand. LOL

    Heavier than Hockey pucks?! I have been hit by hockey pucks. That is no picnic. Getting the edge of the puck in the head hurts like hell and bleeds like a stuck pig

    Yeah. That would suck. Mine are about $10 less, but I drive an older domestic minivan, so that makes a difference. :p

    Our "pads" cost way more than that, because we have to replace them.  Unlike your brake pads, these pads are a box a month.  

    My pad days are over.  

    I know you did not ask, but it is one of the perks of being a crone.
