Even if you have never smoked, have you ever carried a lighter or matches when you went out ? If you have ,why did you ?

Yes.  It is in the girl scout and boy scout handbooks. 
Always be prepared when hiking, camping or hunting.

No.  The only time I carry matches (and flint) is when I go hiking.

I never smoked, but in the seventies, it was quite common when bar-hopping to be asked for a "light."  It was occasionally used as a "break the ice" issue for a woman, so I started carrying one and did so until disco died.

When attending music concerts. 


I do not smoke but collect unique lighters. 

I have always kept a lighter in my purse.  I also keep a first aid kit, rope, and blanket in my car.  This all comes from the same place.

I quit smoking years ago, but I still carry a lighter whenever I go bush. It's the only safe way to get rid of leeches.

yes I also carry newspaper, dry sticks, and a pack of sausage  in case I am hungry 

Only when hiking and camping, to light the fire for the evening meal.
