Shouldn't the Republicans who entered a secured area without clearance be arrested, tried and punished?

This is from an article that is arguing that the potential security risks---in his opinion---are not great enough to be a problem.

He argues:  "(One) could also unwittingly store and/or transmit classified information on your phone if it had been compromised by an external agent — and one must guess that members of Congress are among the top targets of such attacks by foreign intelligence agencies.

So that’s why it’s universally verboten to carry your cell phone into a SCIF. There are a few exceptions, mostly for high-ranking leadership personnel who’ve been issued secure personal communication devices, but those are pretty few and far between, and I feel safe in guessing that none of the congressmen involved today were carrying anything like that."

His conclusion is that what happened is not a major thing.

Unfortunately, he does not address why there is a rule in place against it---which, for me, is a bit of a problem.

    Why just Republicans?
Shouldn't such rules apply to everyone?

They should... Rules should apply to everyone regardless of their party affiliation.
As we all know, that is how civilized people conduct business and politics
The problem here and (that which this question is in reference to) is that a gang of Republikklans behaving like  jack-booted thugs stormed a secret investigative meeting taking place when they had no legal right to do so. This post was edited by Jon at October 25, 2019 1:40 PM MDT

I believe they should but here we go, the party of lawlessness.
The rules clearly state that these levels of inquiry can be done in secrecy.
These rules were changed in January of 2015, John Boehner signed them and a republican majority enacted them.
The same party that created and made the process being legally followed NOW are the same nincompoops who are violating the rules. FACT

It is apparent that rules apply to everyone except for Trump in the eyes of these people who put party above country.

They should arrested and removed from office. Why? Because!

It is somewhat troubling---and somewhat appalling as well--- that a little girl understands more about climate change than Trump.

They listen to their corporate masters who are disguised as politicians and refute scientific data, uses tactics to mislead and divert with red-herring issues like 2nd amendment rights being removed and taxation being Un-American and theft.

    They are fools.

Trump is a product of right-wing hysterical theories, falsifications, and self-serving endeavors.

Those who make the rules can break the rules.  It doesn't matter what party you attend.  Once you are there, all rules apply.... to that party that is...

Why not just have a block party?  One that isn't separated by fences or dogs or cats or lines?  Why not just understand we all have flaws and we all DO want the best for ourselves, our dogs and cats and fish and children?

Let's not forget about the trees who sacrificed their lives for us to have those lines and houses and boundaries and flowers who make our blocks wonderful...

It was a childish stunt to distract us from negative reporting. Prosecuting them would only create further distraction which would suit their purposes.
