Lil Wayne Says Racism Doesn't Exist. Is He Right?

FWIW, I've liked Lil Wayne ever since I heard Lollipop. :-) (The lyrics may not be safe for work or children, but the song itself is VERY finely constructed.)

Lil Wayne says he didn’t think racism existed because white people attend his concerts, denies retirement rumors

Rapper Lil Wayne declared racism dead on Tuesday, citing his white concertgoers as an example.

When asked by “Undisputed” co-host Skip Bayless about a predominantly white Westchester audience for which he’d once performed, the New Orleans native said it signified to him “there was no such thing as racism.”

The truth about bigotry is that it is and has always has been a machination of power used to control the many. If power does't control the many, the many, who outnumber power, will control power. It is also correct that individual bigots exist alone and within societal groups, that's a natural byproduct of institutional bigotry.

Pit the controlled against each other while power enjoys the spoils. And bigotry will always exist in the minds of those who choose to indulge it.

Institutional bigotry is the actual threat and it will remain an unchecked threat because those most affected by it have chosen to enlist the services of the true perpetrator in an effort to exact retribution against a few in society which, sadly, only serves to reinforce the very devices that caused the problem to begin with.

Here we go again!  Question or impugn the mental health of anyone who disagrees with your position.  How thoroughly unoriginal!  And RATHER than address 'facts,' all you've done is made this conversation (initially about Lil Wayne and HIS views about racism) about me.  Google ad hominem and see if you can figure out how the term applies here. :-)

"To ME, when you say,  "When African Americans realize just how badly they've been screwed",  you're saying that SOMEHOW, INEXPLICABLY this FACT got by all those black people for all these years.."

You're right!  TO YOU, and markedly WITHOUT asking me what I meant, you just ASSUMED that I was making some sort of racist comment.  Color me NOT surprised!

In truth, however, I suspect that African Americans have known they were being screwed (if not exactly how, then by whom) for generations, but the the allure of a trans-generational flow of 'free stuff' is just too strong.  That's especially so when academic resources are sorely (and conspicuously) missing in urban reservations built, run and funded by democrats.

"Now, seriously, my friend, how could that POSSIBLY happen if they WEREN'T stupid???"

    1) You are NOT my 'friend.'  Friends don't accuse one another of racism without solid evidence, and even when they do they usually do so privately.

    2) The failure to realize that one is being screwed by dem/liberal slavers could have a variety of causes/reasons.  Why do YOU automatically ASSUME it's because of stupidity (race based or otherwise)?

"So, if we can't agree on what words MEAN, or you wanna play word games, then we have NOTHING to talk about.."

Right.  Because I won't bend over for your verbal abuse, we have nothing to talk about. That's rich!

Excellent!  You're sticking precisely to formula!  Because Lil Wayne disagrees with you, he must:

    A) Be crazy

    B) Be rich

    C) Be 'on drugs'

    D) Be (insert pejorative pigeonhole here)

Exactly!  The whole damned thing is a monstrous control drama, and the usual suspects can be COUNTED on to fall for it every time!

You said one thing I agree with. We're not friends.

Sadly, racism does exist. It's just a case of wishful thinking on Lil Wayne's part. He's only a rapper anyway, so his view of the world is bound to be silly and irrelevant.

Of course it exists--and in all manner of nasty forms.

Exactly, Nimitz. Lil Wayne is just another dimwitted clot, like most rappers. I don't know how anyone could listen to any of the dorky things they say, any more than I could understand anyone wanting to listen to such crappy music.

  • I like the fact Lil Wayne isn't hopping on the modern anti white rhetoric and its supporters. Good to know he isn't a sheep. Actually he may be one of the few rappers that's ever spoke out against the extremism that is going on lately.

I do believe Lil Wayne in that article asked why so many white kids liked rap if there was rampart wide spread racism, which he has a point.

I'd be happy as a clam if people could only define the term. Most can't (despite trying to pin the label on everyone else).

  • I think you can go back another 20 years at least, though someone like Andy B would be able to provide more information.  It took that long for interest to percolate through the wider population (or for the population to grow into it), helped in no small part by WW2.  Not yet 'popular' perhaps, but certainly consumed.

    Hello N:

Well, he's black, so he should know.  Amirite???

It used to be, that no matter what your politics, at LEAST we could agree on a set of FACTS.  Those days are GONE. HALF of us have gone completely BONKERS..

PS>  (edited)  Yes, I have MORE to say..  To accept that there's NO racism, one would have to believe that black people PREFER living in crime ridden neighborhoods.  It's MIND BOGGLING...

I blame that last point on liberal codependency.  They're the ones who insist to this day on keeping minority groups hemmed into urban reservations so as to use them as a ready bloc of voters when the need arises.  At NO POINT has any self described 'progressive' seriously entertained programs designed to help minority groups break free of institutional dependency.

And the fearmongering is always the same: "vote for us or those mean old repugnicans will cut off your bennies."

When African Americans realize just how badly they've been screwed...and by whom...all bets are off.
