    I was very young and had a fear of riding underneath overpasses in the family car.  I used to duck down onto the floor (in the days before people wore seatbelts) if we were approaching one.  I have no idea why I believed these things were going to suddenly tumble down on us.

    Once I got snow up my nose, and I panicked thinking it would form a huge snowball inside my head and freeze me to death. I was about 5.

    Pressure vessels of any size or shape.  They scared the chit out of me! :-)

    I hated dark and still do as far as true darkness.  I have night blindness anyway so when the lights are off I walk into walls.  I have nightlights throughout the house.

    I thought snakes were under my bed at night.  I remember being awake and wetting the bed because I was too afraid to put my foot on the floor.  My mother didn't have patience about being afraid of the dark.  When my girls were little I would always ask if they wanted me to leave the light on and they would always so no.  That puzzled me for a long time.

    Yes, I admit that I was frozen to death as a child, by inhaling a few flakes of snow. <_<;

    That I would fail to hit the light switch as I jumped from the third step up from the basement floor and the bears that lived there in the dark would get me...I had five older brothers.

    When I went to bed at night and the lights were out I thought that my head turned into a monster's head and that I can only see it reflected on a mirror so I was afraid of mirrors only in the dark. yup >.<

    That no matter how hard I tried or how much I studied it, I thought that I would never understand grammar.

  • The oddest one was that the clothes in the closet could come alive and get me. In fact, I had frequent nightmares about it, and would get nervous if a closet door was not properly closed.
