  • Yes, it means dress your age.

Does wobbling necessarily have something to do with age?

I can't wait to wear my shorts and sandals with black socks.

Is it wrong? Because of your age, or?

This is in the 'unwritten social contract' category---pass.

Isn't it? It makes me wonder how age alone can make something improper or acceptable. That will be sort of discrimination, right?

Other than the "Florida" Rule, no (men that move to Florida to retire are required to wear odd-looking shirts, loud Bermuda shorts with the belt either above the naval or below the hernia repair scars, black socks and leather sandals).

And by the way, the cartoonist missed it completely. The clothing that the lady is "wearing" is perfectly fine and very tasteful.

Right? I don't get it either. To be fair though, the entire concept of an 'unwritten social contract' baffles me altogether. I despise the idea itself. So...

I'm not sure I despise the idea as such. It seems at it place in my mind when talking about how to behave among others. The challenge however will always be the definition of things, like example what's good manner when taking part in discussions on a social media. Hmm.

There isn't? Not even in the 'unwritten social contract'?

Guess we all live in 2016 with exception from the Muslim calendar. I do still hear though that people when talking with each other do use expressions as 'with her age she can't wear that!' Hmm.

Some will find the dress perfect other that the colour is to red, the slit too provocative, the red lipstick signalling the wrong thing, the flower in her hair totally wrong and so on. That won't be the point of the strip though, to desiccate it into tiny parts.

So what you say about the Florida rule is that if any man moving to Florida for retirement isn't wearing clothing like described by you, he will break the dress code?

I took it to mean dress well or respectful.

Hmm. But what will define what is dressing well and respectful? And isn't this for all ages? Does it change with age?

  • I'm pretty sure it's not mandatory.

If that exists, I don't take the slightest bit of notice of it. Why should I? I'll wear whatever the heck I like and my age has no bearing on it.

That however won't mean it's not present. It merely means you have liberated yourself from such expectations made by others. And may I say, good for you! :-)
