When you have a pet pass-away, Do you cremate, bury, eat, or do something different with their remains?

In Japan, when an Akita Inu passed away, it was not uncommon for Akita owners to keep their loving, loyal pet's pelt as a sign of honour.

I have French Bulldogs and am thinking of something different...

I've not had a pet pass away, but if I did, I would cremate it and bury the ashes (unless it was a fish).

I lay them to rest in one of their favorite spots in the yard but I do it in a way that helps the body decomposes naturally and quickly which helps the soil because it encourage beneficial  micro organisms to grow. Our dogs always have our best interests at heart so I like to think they are happy to help even after they pass on. Cheers!

Thank you for your comment, Nanoose
Losing a pet is difficult. That is a wonderful way to think of them and keep their life-spirit alive

I have buried all my pets (save one) in my yard.  I even buried one of my sister's dogs in my upper yard.  The only pet I didn't bury here was my collie.  She died from cancer and the local vet simply "disposed of her".

I had a collie die of cancer too. We took her home and let her live a good life with dignity and when the time came before she had any pain, we took her to the vet to relieve her of the burden of suffering. I buried her on her favorite spot on the hill where she would look out over the property next to a pear tree and her best friend, Mocha.

I am sorry for your loss Shukak. I hope she did not experience great discomfort before her journey. Thank you for your comment.

We had our dog, Dusty, cremated, then buried his ashes in a flower garden with a plaque.

I wasn't aware Pomeranians came in different sizes. They're sweet dogs

Neither was I until I met my wife. She did some research. He was actually a Deutche Spitz klein, closely related to the Pom, so she just called him a big Pom.

Like people, pets DIE. It's OK to say that; no need for euphemisms.

Dogs I have cremated, Cats buried at the farm/ranch/out of the way place.  The Horses have been buried in Lime on the Fence line downstream from our well at the ranch, and also at my sisters farm.  Anything else is transported to the rendering plant nearby
