With people I love and who love me, yes - I enjoy close, gentle contact.
That ends up being mainly Ari.

Also love it with my cat, my horses,
and any dog that welcomes it.

I sleep with a cat.  To a cat, the entire bed its theirs - top. bottom, both sides and the middle (including all sheets and blankets).

That is really easy for me to visualize.
All the cats I have had in my life love to chase my feet under the sheets. They like to do this especially in the morning.  It's a great wake-up call. :) :)
They also have hogged the bed, throughout the night,  and won't budge.  It doesn't matter.  I always seem to move out of their way.
I'm taking a guess here but you wouldn't happen to share your company with a Maine Cat, would you?

No.  He's a little 6 pound Russian blue mix.  His wakeup call is to go around the house yelling loudly... when he thinks it's time to get up.

    Beautiful!
And I'm sure that is a very affective approach to waking up as well!

    Mine is an ordinary tabby.
Her wake-up is ordered with increasing intensity:
brush her whiskers against my cheek,
    purr in my ear,
    wet nose touch,
    head butt,
walk all over me with prodding paws,
    soft meow in ear,
    loud meow,
jump up on top of bed head and jump down onto me, landing with full five kilos on my chest.

I've learned to get up and supply breakfast at the first whisker - 4 am.

Funny, Don does very similar things  to get me up at 4 am.
    Big Winks and Smiles.
Nooo.  I have a HUGE feeling your love to your fur family is so large, you get up willingly.
Happy thoughts and good vibes, always, to you and your fur fam.
    :) :)

True. I do get up willingly.
And to be honest, Souris (the cat) helps when she wakes me. My husband refuses to have an alarm clock.
I prefer to wake early for vipassana sit, hatha yoga and breakfast before going down to give the horses their breakfast at 7. An hour earlier now, in summer, to get the chores done before the day gets too hot.

What kind of cat is your Don?

Thanks for the happy thoughts and good vibes. Same to you. :)
    I feel/think them every time I see your Merlin hat. :) :)

I have been giving it some serious thought for the last hour for a deserved description.
Unfortuantely, I have run out of fun time and must do responsible time.
    Off to work I go.
But, I will leave you with this and a description on my return.

    Don is a one-of-a-kind cat.

Thanks for the invite for allowing my creative juices to flow.  I'm having a blast working on the description.  On my return...
Until then, I hope you find youself being happy, sharing your smile, and being free!
    Love you!

    Love,
    Merlin

I thought all cats were women in feline bodies...even male cats.

Most women do have a lot in common with most cats.

Some of us hiss when we are pissed.
Some of us have long nails.
We tend to be soft to the touch.
    We can be very sneaky.
We are very convincing when we want or need something.
Like cats, some of us will push until you pay attention us and our needs and desires.
We normally ask nicely, first.  It is in your best interest to act as quickly as you can.
Some of us will and can yowl if you don't get it fast enough or when we see fit.
We don't like to be startled.
Most of us, like cats, will let you know, immediately if you are out of line or do something to us we don't appreciate.
Feeding us is a must and on a schedule of our liking.
Like cats, some of us like our appearance to be clean and attractive to others.
Some of us have a jealous streak like cats do when you start paying attention to something other than us.... your computer is a good example.
Most of us try to be neat when it comes to using the bathroom.  Some of us are bashful.
Most of us like to take cat naps.
We do purr when rubbed in the right places with a certain touch.
Most of us like to snuggle cuddle and sleep in your bed with you.
And finally, we have that thing in between our legs that has the same slang name.
Yes, I have to agree. Your thought is pretty much, "the cat's meow."
    :) :)

Thanks, Merlin. I look forward to your description of your one-of-a-kind cat.
I'm very content at the moment - creative juices flowing well and a few small successes lately.
Am free enough within my limits to be happy where I am.
    love,
    Manna  :) :)

He's smiling and said to tell you, it hard to be him sometimes.
If I'm going to make him into a domestic animal,
He'd much prefer to be howling at the moon than to be a pussy cat.
But hey, whatever makes Merlin happy, he's good to go.
(Shhh.  I added that last sentence. Don't tell.)
    ;) :)

hahahaha, so cute.  I can relate to that.  My alpha cat is the one who's job it is to awaken me in the morning by:  walking all over me, jumping from the headboard right on me, if all else fails he gets on top of my jewelry box and bangs a little picture on the wall with his paw, it is very loud and he won't stop until I wake up. hahahaha
