If Trump is re-elected, I would presume we have reached the tipping point at which the American voter no longer understands the requirements that a representative democracy places on its citizens to guarantee its continued existence.
I wouldn't be surprised if only two charges have been brought against Trump now is because other charges are being held in abeyance in the event Trump wins a second term. If the Dems get a Senate majority, the other charges can be brought and perhaps Trump could be removed from office.
There is a difference in the way Aussies and Americans talk, and it's not just in the odd word or phrase. There's a difference in the way we think, emote and react to things. It can be confusing because there are also so many similarities.
To an American, I sound British - standard BBC - was raised and educated that way. I'm not the typical Strine speaker.
Here's an interesting / scary thought. Senate convicts and removes him from office, but does not prohibit him from running again---(that requires a separate motion and vote.)

Would the GOP be stupid enough to renominate a deposed ex-President? And will it even be possible, given that criminal proceedings will almost certainly follow if a sufficient number of Republican senators grow a conscience and convict him?
