Discussion»Questions»Communication» Have you ever bluffed your way into something you clearly did not deserve? Just shot off your pie hole until you were in. ~
No. BUT.... Chryssie Hynde of the Pretenders had a very good song about it.
I'll get it for you. The lyrics.
She says, (I don't have to get it, I remember that song) ... anyway, she says, "I shot my mouth off and you showed me what that hole was for."
Randy, you do not have to tell me you did not like the Pretenders. I know. They were very PUNK.
Sorry Randy, I am just very UP there tonight.

"Tattooed Love Boys"
The mid-twenty joys, around a heart that's black and blue The tattooed love boys, I tore my knees up getting to you Cause I needed to find out what the thing was for been reading But man the time came to explore
I went ape wire, cause I thought Like I'd like it, little tease, but I didn't mean it But you mess with the goods doll Honey you gotta pay
A good time was guaranteed for one and all The tattoos did target practice in the hall While waiting for their number to get called out I, I, I, I found out what the wait was about
I was a good time, yeah, I got pretty good At changing tyres, upstairs bro I shot my mouth off And you showed me what that hole was for
Now I see you all impressed and half undressed You got paint stick all over the scars and lumps and bumps Tattooed love boys have got you where I used to lay Well ha ha and too bad, but you know what they say
Stop snivellin' You're gonna make some plastic surgeon a rich man Oh, but the prestige and the glory Another human interest story, you are that
OK. I need to be very honest. I have worked for several large corporations and I did very well for myself. One has to bluff and bullsh*t to get what they want sometimes. Saying that, the answer is "Yes", I have. In my defense, nothing ever came back to haunt me and it was not because of luck. I've always delivered
Nope - and probably missed out on many opportunities because of it. I've noticed men frequently get jobs this way. If they're smart they learn quickly and soon become competent. It's a balls thing I think -- takes testosterone to take risks.
I have a fair number of folks do this over my career. Pretty much evenly split between Males and Females.
Most interesting person was a woman from OZ. She had more Brass than an Indian Bazaar. BS'd her way into a design job at a top fashion house, then proceeded to succeed. Set her sights on a Hedge Fund Guru and landed him as well
I believe it. Some Aussies have an awful lot of bravado. Glad to hear your experience has been about 50:50 male to female. I wonder whether it's related to the industry you work in. Was it difficult to check their references and qualifications? How did you discover that they had lied their way into the position?
