For you, how many positive comments can be negated by one negative comment? For me it is about 100.

I'm not talking about here, but in real life.

Oh, it's limitless; provided I wasn't already thinking of it myself. Then it becomes a matter of time. I tend to dig into the cause of the comment, but ultimately don't mind being that way.

All of them.  Unless, of course, they're constructive criticism... then about 25.

I hate the term 'constructive criticism'. Key word...criticism. My first wife used to do that a lot. Just another reason she is an ex.

And a positive choice to make her an ex.  That counts as a + 1.

I call it unwanted criticism.  If I wanted someones criticism I'd ask for it

I never give constructive criticism. Only the regular kind.

  • It depends on who is giving the negative comments.

As Mrs. C said, it depends on who is giving the negative and how it is delivered.
If it were someone whom I respected and admired, a person I trusted and shared my feelings with, the number would be catastrophic.
    I thrive on positive energy.
However, in defense to the person who might find a flaw or two in my behavior or choices, when delivered in a reasonable and diplomatic fashion, I would take the observation with the opinion of opinion.
This doesn't mean I would not break down and cry on the inside and on the outside, take it to another room and weep.
It does mean I would try to stand up and appreciate what they were saying.
I don't like to rub anyone the wrong way.  If I do, I try to make the appropriate changes and make the atmosphere flow smoothly. This post was edited by Merlin at January 14, 2020 3:15 AM MST

Think of the people who had fame and glory and were caught saying the N word.

I hate the N word...my first wife said it often. NO. (Reason number two she is my ex.)

That makes +2 good reasons why it is good she is an ex.

...also if ANYONE was caught saying even one thing Trump has blurted, they would be forever banned.  His base holds him up.  They are the wind beneath his crap-laden wings.

  • And that about sums it up.  His base makes anything he says or does OK .... VERY SCARY!

Negative comments don't negate positive comments for me. I tend to look on the bright side and give people the benefit of the doubt.
