This program takes state taxes and gives then to kids who will go to private schools instead of public schools. In Michigan, where Betsy is from, poor kids who went to charter schools did worse than in public schools. Why? The richer kids went to the best private schools, and the poor kids went to the worse private schools. People assume all private schools are excellent. They're not. Besides, there are not enough charter schools to take in all the students that go to public schools. Rural America doesn't have private schools! Furthermore, Betsey has no experience in teaching or working with any schools or school boards. Philanthropy doesn't qualify anyone to head any education program, much less THE Department of Education for the whole country. Maybe she's there because she is a billionaire.
