They found some unopened cans of food from old Artic expeditions that were at least 100 years old, when they open them the food was still edible .....:)
I once asked a pharmacist what is done with prescription medication that expires before it's sold. He said it's retested to see if it is still good. (I got the impression the testing was done by the manufacturer---I didn't ask for details.)
Serves you right. Melbourne is the only place on Earth where you can get four different sorts of bad weather on the same day. I live in Adelaide. Everybody who doesn't live there disses Melbourne.
I was on a business trip the past two weeks. Cleaned out all perishables before I left and figured I'd do a grocery trip when I came home. LMAO Oops. I tried to place an online order for groceries yesterday. The computerized system doesn't let you order things that are out of stock- they don't even appear as choices. I put together a huge order and got a call back that they only had 20 of the 120 items I ordered. :/
So, I thought... "Ok, I'll go to the store on Monday when the kids are in school and everyone is at work." HA! School is now canceled indefinitely and everyone I know is telecommuting. I have a case of granola bars, some eggs of questionable age, and some leftover pizza. And coffee. Thank Zeus for coffee. Or I would die.
The moral of the story- if you want some granola bars, I can spare a couple, but we'll be living exclusively off those and coffee until the crazy stops.
I thought the same as you and decided to go food shopping on Friday thinking people would be at work and the kids would be in school. The Walmart supermarket didn't have one available cart in the parking lot or outside the store. People were walking out with carts so full you'd think there was never going to be another food delivery. So, I went to Target and couldn't even find a parking spot, let alone a shopping cart. Finally, I decided that it would be best to wait until mid-week but that will mean that if I can't do a full shopping, I will definitely be out of milk, bread and eggs.
