I've used car-ferries many times, from the chain-ferry across the entrance to Poole Harbour, to North Sea crossings between Northern England and Norway. In between, ferries across the Irish Sea and the English Channel.
(Sadly there are now no ferries other than special commercial-vehicle ones, between the British Isles and any Scandinavian country. The geographically nearest ferry port is in Holland, giving a drive via Germany to Denmark; then to go further, either the bridge to Sweden or ferries to Norway or Sweden.)
