Since i am not sexually active
    being celibate
    it's been ages since
    i was in that place
    of sexual activity, or
    thinking i was sexually attractive.

Being sexually active and considering yourself sexually attractive are not mutually inclusive of each other. The question is only about the latter.

    A.  I've been told it is a vibe or a look I have.  I don't mean to be.  I just am who I am.

I think I have attractive moments versus it being a constant state. I usually get my boost when I get dolled up to go out. It's those moments that I feel the most attractive. But, since that's been out of the question lately... IDK... I guess the latest was from setting up a new dating profile. I woke up to several hundred new likes that accumulated in the first night. That always seems "fraudulent" though. Would those people still find me attractive IRL? Or are they all swiping right on everyone in the hopes of getting laid? And does it matter if all those people swiped if none of them actually care about anything other than the pics/ looks? Sigh. That brief glimmer of attractiveness it gave me was promptly replaced by a gross I-feel-like-a-slab-of-meat feeling.

Subconsciously (or not), don’t you think it’s possible that in posting the particular photo(s) that you selected for the dating website, you instigated the vibe that those men picked up on?  I doubt you posted your worst photo(s).

What vibe do you think they picked up on, exactly? lol My main pic is literally the same pic I use on LinkedIn. It's a selfie pretending to be a professional headshot. There is nothing remotely sexual about it. The others are a mixed bag ranging from makeup-free pics through dolled up ones.

FWIW, the likes I got on that site are normal for a woman. It wasn't anything spectacular. Virtually every woman who puts a profile up with pics gets that kind of response. You could probably create a fake profile with no pics at all and get a few hundred likes in the first day.

I’m not saying it was or might have been remotely sexual on your part as the sender, but you know how men are. We perceive practically everything a woman does as being remotely sexual or overtly sexual, partially because that’s how WE look at everything. An attractive photo, a pleasant photo, a welcoming photo, any of the above is the provocation they needed.

It is not what I think, which would be between A & B.  It is what my partner thinks, she thinks I am pretty much there all the time.

"B." would be my answer. I've never, ever felt that way about myself. There's a lot of knowledge in this big head, but no actual way of applying it for the foreseeable future. This post was edited by Zack at May 29, 2020 2:10 PM MDT

A lot depends on the company. To my better half, A. To everybody else, B.
