Yes. There is a tradition in the sea services (US Navy, US Merchant Marines, US Coast Guard, and US Marine Corps) that when aboard ship and crossing the Equator for the first time, one goes from being a wog to a shellback. There is a rite of passage ceremony that is carried out, similar to an initiation for a fraternity or sorority. As part of the ceremony, the wogs aboard my ship were required to dress as follows:
fatigue uniform trousers turned inside-out and worn backwards
skivvies (underwear) also turned inside-out and worn backwards over the trousers
white uniform t-shirt turned inside-out, emblazoned across the upper shoulder blades with the word WOG and the last name in bold block letters, then worn backwards
a pair of combat boots, left boot on right foot, right boot on left foot
In answer to your question, yes. The further details of Wog Day, however, are an entirely different story.
