    His people did not steal. 
    He purposely placed a solid gold cup in the middle of town. No one dared touch it. They knew the punishment.

    I think so many of his people got the point of his actions....although why so many stood for it is beyond me...all I can say is that there must have been a lot at stake for him to have a stab at doing it to others...  :(

    Probably not---but I'm sure he was "respected" (in the original meaning of the term, without the requirement of admiration or esteem) without the necessity of posting a TOS for the neighborhood.
