What love song do you think has the saddest words?

I think This Flight Tonight by Nazarth has a real sad part - "sometimes I  think  that love is just mythical".  Seems like a sad thing  for a person to think.  Cheers and happy weekend!

This one is particularly painful. :(

But, Eric Clapton's: "Tears in Heaven" probably wins it.

Hadn't heard Hardin's song -- "knowing you lied while I cried."
    I know of Clapton's song.
    Both good choices, for sure.

    Great songs, yes.

Thinking about it, I remember answering a question of yours....I think, maybe I'm wrong, about songs that have a specific moment I love because it stands out from the rest of the song? Anyway, Hardin's: "Reason to Believe", specifically this live version, has one of those moments for me. When he sings the line; "Someone like you" at 1:20, he repeats it again a few seconds later, but with more emotion....emotion with painful conviction.

    Sorry for rambling...lol :)

Hey, no worries --  I'm the "King of Ramblin' " (sounds like a good song) and you weren't rambling at all. Unless maybe we both are Ramblers and we enjoy and / or not notice, when we hear each other ramble. Ha! :)

After reading your comment, I went to listen again to the song. (I do like this song. And I'm unsure if I know of Hardin until this song.) And right before listening, I thought, "Hey, I wonder if righty 1's moment is that part of the song where the camera zooms in closer on Hardin." I remember listening and watching the first time and, today, as I was getting ready to listen again, I remembered that the first time I had noticed the camera zooming in closer on him at one point. And I was right! That was your spot! Yes! It is a great little moment! :)

And, yes -- that was one of my questions you had answered, about moments in a song that stand out. :)

Yup! I thought it was your question. :)

And good to know we're both ramblers! lol

“Cat’s In The Cradle” by Harry Chapin, 1974.

    LYRICS

My child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talking 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you, dad"
"You know I'm gonna be like you"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
"When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when"
    But we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then
My son turned ten just the other day
He said, thanks for the ball, dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw, I said, not today
I got a lot to do, he said, that's okay
And he walked away, but his smile never dimmed
It said, I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
"When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when"
    But we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then
Well, he came from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?
He shook his head, and he said with a smile
What I'd really like, dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please?
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
"When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when"
But we'll get together then, dad
You know we'll have a good time then
I've long since retired and my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said, I'd like to see you if you don't mind
He said, I'd love to, dad, if I could find the time
You see, my new job's a hassle, and the kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, dad
It's been sure nice talking to you
And as I hung up the phone, it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
"When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when"
But we'll get together then, dad
We're gonna have a good time then

I'm sure it's not the saddest for me but it's the first song to come to my mind and I wanted to answer before going to work.

The song is beautiful for me. :)

"The World Spins"   sung by Julee Cruise   (the last song from Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch's "Industrial Symphony No. 1: The Dream of the Brokenhearted")

Moving near the edge at night
Dust is dancing in the space
A dog and bird are far away
The sun comes up and down each day
Light and shadow change the walls
    Halley's comet's come and gone
The things I touch are made of stone
    Falling through this night alone

    Love
    Don't go away
    Come back this way
    Come back and stay
    Forever and ever

    (spoken)
    Please stay

Dust is dancing in the space
A dog and bird are far away
The sun comes up and down each day
The river flows out to the sea

    Love
    Don't go away
    Come back this way
    Come back and stay
    Forever and ever

    The world spins.

There is something special in most all music...I often suprise myself when I hear someing else that's new to me...Amapola and Debora's theme....from Once upon a time in America....
How about the theme tune from  ...Once upon a time in the West...?

No I’ve never seen the films. I’m pretty bad for being one who rarely watches anything made before I was born lol. I’m sure I’m missing out on a lot of good stuff. I’m just guessing they’re older movies Cos I’ve never heard of them.

I have that almost exact  shirt, pretty good lol. I haven’t resorted to drinking from a paper bag yet though. Public drinking is what travel coffee mugs are for, duh.
