You go to the zoo. What is the first animal you want to see?

For me it’s the elephants. They are a most favorite of mine.

I’m not particular about that. I seldom go to the zoo, so if I’m taking children there, it’s up to them to let me know which animals they want to see. I’m flexible. By the way, our children are now grown and we have no grandchildren, so it’s been quite a few years since the last zoo visit.

I have especially enjoyed the Audubon Zoological Garden in New Orleans and the Wild Animal Park in San Diego.

I, too, would enjoy that approach - - go with the children's wishes.  :)

    EDIT:
It completely slipped my mind that just six months ago while on vacation with my wife, I took a whole slew of her nieces, nephews and cousins to the zoo!

All of the ones that are close to extinction, because I may never get another chance.
This is a greater glider. Critically endangered due to habitat destruction, it looks like the Mogwai from Gremlins.

We always go straight to the sea lions.  They were my favorites when I was a kid and were my kids' favorite too.  The grands are keeping the love alive.

  • I visit the animals in order from the entrance, but my favourite animals are always the babies.  The last zoo I visited was Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in the US.  My own city's zoo was ordered to be closed by the city government because of animal neglect and cruelty, which is shameful.  It was sad.

How long has it been closed, and is there a possibility that it will reopen?

  • It's still there, but it was made into an ecological preserve.  The animals were moved to other places.  I don't think the animals that stayed are there for public viewing, but I haven't been there since the zoo was closed four years ago.  The ecological preserve that replaced the zoo still had animal neglect and cruelty charges made against it.

Most of the animals went to a zoo and preserve in the suburbs.  The zoo in the suburbs is a better place for the animals.  It hasn't had neglect or cruelty charges made against it.
