I don't mind if they are aimed at me, but I did notice that a few times in the past, new members left as they didn't appreciate it at all.

When another site closes shop, we get an insurge of new members, many of who drop out within a few weeks.

And here's me, ex-EP member, still here 4-5 years later. :)

It can be a bit slow here. I keep wondering if I'll try to log on one day and answerMug will have just disappeared.

Don’t forget that in addition to grammar-policing, many former members have also left this website because of the politics-related backbiting, the frustrations of how restrictive they’ve found the rules to be, having been banned for posting content that management deemed inappropriate, etc.
A few months ago, a fellow member tried to dump it all on me personally as the only reason new members soon leave here. A perusal of any of the internet’s many review sites reinforces that what I list above is far more at hand than little ol’ me.
Lastly, I’ve stated it often: I have absolutely no problem with any person completely ignoring what I post if that’s what he or she wants to do. I do not force nor attempt to force any person to alter what he or she has posted.  I have just as much dislike for intentional misuse of grammar as some people have dislike for grammar corrections. Some people have suggested that I should merely ignore errors; I will do that when errors are not posted.

Come on, now. You know your weeping inside when people ignore your corrections and let those typos and grammatical errors stand. Admit it.

Hilarious that you didn't just acknowledge that you KNOW I did that deliberately!

How or why would I know that for sure?  I suspected it, but I have no way of knowing for sure one way or the other, I cannot read your mind. You’re human, you are capable of error, just as I am. I know that you have a positively delicious sense of humor, so sure, I thought it may have been intentional.

(You have an extra space between the last two words in your description field.)

I know for a fact that many people do not appreciate it.

Thank you for answering the question. When someone makes the effort to make an intelligent and thoughtful post, I believe it is disrespectful to ignore the content in favor of making a correction. Most of us do not come here for lessons in grammar or to have our posts edited and proofread. If you cannot control your urge to do so, may I suggest that you do it only after you have read and responded to the ideas  and opinions expressed in the post?

Thank you for your suggestion. In the majority of cases, I choose to focus on grammar first.

I like it when the pair of them get into some kind of argument over some esoteric rule of grammar that makes no sense to normal people. They riff off each other and leave the rest of us alone.

Who, pray tell, on this site is a "normal" person, whatever that means? How perfectly boring.

It was not intended as a compliment. I would match my writing skills against yours any time. However, I consider substance more important than style. The ideas and opinions expressed here matter more to me than misplaced commas or misspelled words.  I think you have more to offer this site than pompous and petty pedantry. "pompous and petty pedantry." I like it. Excellent alliteration! Unfortunately, with some exceptions, much of what gets posted on here and similar sites is woefully lacking in both substance and style.
