17 doesn't quite work, you stuck in an extra letter. How about Mötley Crüd instead?

I've seen MC live - I wouldn't waste my money on one of their records, but their live act is terrific. Like KISS, they're not about the music, they're about the show.

Personally, I like both group's music.  I could not enjoy a show if I do not enjoy the music.

The music is okay, but it's very basic rock 'n' roll, no better or worse than you'd get in any bar that has live music. It's the ACT that sets both bands apart. You don't get the effect of Nikki Sixx's flamethrower bass, or Tommy Lee's five minute drum solo strapped to his kit upside down, without seeing it. Ditto the pyrotechnics employed by both bands. Gene's fire-eating, or puking blood, or Paul flying across the crowd, and smashing the glass Gibson etc. It's why they weren't as good with Vinnie "Ankh Warrior" Vincent - he was too good a musician and not a good enough showman.

We will have to disagree. The Crue is better than any average bar band. They are better than Kiss for that matter. But Kiss is better than a bar band.   Yes a good show can add to the music. But bad music is just bad.

For those not in the know, these were four guys in the '60s with thick accents waving and yelling 'ello, submarine! at every crab boat passing by the docks.
